Registering for Calgary West Little League

Calgary West Little League Association (CWLL) is a non-profit sports organization established in 1987

Calgary West Little League provides baseball programs in eight divisions for boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 16. Operating under the umbrella of Little League International, the program is unique among youth sports in that there is a highly-structured, highly-principled and internationally consistent set of rules and governance. Little League charters are granted for specific geographic jurisdictions with CWLL holding the charter for the geographic area that covers parts of West Calgary and Springbank.

In 2019, CWLL celebrated its Golden Anniversary, recognizing 50 years of continuous affiliation with Little League Baseball.

Our vision at CWLL is clear and simple: to provide children with a safe, fun, and positive oriented baseball program that demonstrates the ideals of good sportsmanship, fair play, teamwork, competition, courage and respect. As a non-profit organization, Calgary West Little League relies exclusively on community volunteers and parents to operate our league.

Information for New Players

Please confirm that you are eligible to play at Calgary West Little League by looking at our residency requirements on the " League Boundaries " page. Any player who resides or attends a school within the CWLL league boundaries is eligible to play at CWLL. New players not previously registered with Calgary West Little League last season must register online, and also provide Proof of Current Address and Proof of Age of Child when completing the online registration.

Three (3) documents providing proof of current address such as a utility, cable or telephone bill, insurance records, driver's license, OR a document providing proof of current school being attended such as a report card, valid school identification card or school enrollment form are required as well as proof of age of child such as a birth certificate or passport. The proof of current address documents must be dated between February 1, 2023 and February 1, 2024. School documents need to be from the 2023-24 school year. New players should also confirm that they live within the league boundaries of CWLL before registering by clicking on the "League Boundaries" link on the homepage.

Returning Players Who Have Moved Outside Of CWLL Boundaries

Returning players who have moved out of the geographic boundaries for CWLL since last season are grandfathered and remain eligible to play with CWLL and participate on All-Star teams. 3 pieces of identification must be provided to show that their previous home address is within CWLL's geographic boundaries. Please contact the Registrar to arrange for registration.

Information About Getting KidSport Assistance

CWLL believes all children should have the chance to play baseball. KidSport is a non-profit organization which will provide financial assistance to any eligible families for their CWLL registration fees. Players requiring KidSport financial assistance should contact the Registrar.

Age Eligibility For Divisions And Fees

Players must register in the appropriate division based on their age as noted in the chart below. To determine your child's league age for the 2024 baseball season please click on the following link "LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL AGE DETERMINATION DATE" .Final assignment of 7 to 16 year old players to Rookie, Minor, Major, Intermediate, Junior or Senior divisions will be done after the player evaluation process is completed. Please refer to the “Parents” page for more information about player evaluations.

Registration Fees for baseball divisions are as follows:

Blastball - Ages 4 and 5 - Registration fees are $150

TBall - Ages 5 and 6 - Registration fees are $150

Rookieball - Ages 7 and 8 - Registration fees are $250

Minors - Ages 9 and 10 - Registration fees are $375

Majors - Ages 11 and 12 - Registration fees are $375

Intermediate - Age 13 - Registration fees are $375

Junior - Age 14 - Registration fees are $375

Senior - Ages 15 and 16 - Registration fees are $375

NOTE: For Minors and up the registration fee increase to $425 effective March 1, 2024 due to player evaluation requirements and league administration for the older divisions.

All league registrations close March 31, 2024.

Making Teammate Requests

“Teammate” requests for team placement are accepted in the Blastball Division only, but NOT in the T-Ball, Rookie, Minor, Major, Intermediate, and Teenage divisions. “Sibling” requests for team placement will be considered at all levels for players eligible to play within the same division.

FYI's About the Challenger Division

Challenger Baseball is an adaptive program that provides an opportunity for children, youth, and adults with cognitive and/or physical disabilities to enjoy the full benefits of participating in organized baseball at a level structured to their abilities. No Baseball knowledge is required.

Practices and games will be on Tuesdays at: 6 pm - 7 pm at Westgate Diamonds - 4943 8 Ave SW.

All equipment and uniforms are provided courtesy of the JaysCare Foundation. The baseball diamond is provided by CWLL.

Refund Policy

Calgary West Little League understands that plans and family schedules can change. If you need to cancel your registration we will refund your money but must charge a processing fee due to costs that we incur from online transactions and administration. At this time, we are hoping to start on time, however, depending on the direction from health officials, the timeline may shift. CWLL reserves the right to adjust the season schedule to comply with these directions.

$25.00 non-refundable fee for any player that withdraws before evaluations are conducted for their division or, in the case of Blastball and T-Ball, before their teams are formed.
$75.00 non-refundable fee for any player that withdraws after evaluations have taken place for the Rookie, Minor or Major and Teenage Divisions.*
No refund will be issued after a player has been assigned to a team and participates in a game(s). Team assignments happen in March.

*If a player must withdraw due to a medical reason CWLL will charge a pro-rated amount (less the non-refundable fee) based on when the illness/injury occurred within the season. A medical note will be required.

House League Season - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When does the House League Season start?

A: The House League seasons starts the last week of April and runs through the 3rd week of June.

Q: How many games/practices would be scheduled per week?

A:This varies by age group but you can expect to have approximately 2 to 3 practices/games per week.
